Hello, I'm Zakaria. I'm an experimental physicist and postdoctoral researcher in the Quantum Photonics Lab at Heriot-Watt University.

During my PhD, I used a tunable optical cavity to control how individual perovskite quantum dots interact with light.

I now work with individual crystal defects in silicon carbide, combining optical spectroscopy with coherent spin control. Alongside improving photon collection and electrically controlling the emitter, I explore how light can provide an interface to a single spin.
